One of the workers, Sarno, has been working there for twenty-eight years. Under such severe conditions, he would extract sulfur with a mining bar and carry 75 kilos of it on his back. Sum Arti, a volcanologist, monitors the level of danger linked to gases and protects miners from the risk of gas bubbles that can potentially be lethal.
