The film tells the turbulent life story of Farah Diba Pahlavi who became the first and only empress in the history of Persia. The history of this country, which dates back over millennia, and its culture are as much the theme of this film as is the life of the Empress, a role model to women in Iran. The film goes on a journey with Empress Farah Pahlavi through her truly unique love story. It documents her life today in Paris, accompanies her to the Shah’s grave in Cairo on the anniversary of his death, and travels with her to the Biennale in Venice. Rich, partly unpublished archive material from all periods of Farah Pahlavi’s life, especially from Iran in the 1960s and 1970s will be included in the documentary. She will also open her private archive with many unpublished photographs as well as private amateur films.
