Tuesday, September 11th 2001 changed the lives of thousands of children forever. 3,000 children lost at least one parent when the planes hit the Twin Towers; their average age was only eight years old.
Now, the kids who lost their childhoods, as well as a parent, have grown up and are now able to speak for the first time as teenagers and young adults about what happened to them and their families… and what has been going on in their lives since 9/11.
With unique access to many of the children, who are now able to speak and act for themselves, this special will reveal the plight of the ‘lost’ children of 9/11, through their own words, as they try to explain what it was like for them when the planes struck and killed their mothers or fathers.
They will tell us their stories and reveal what has happened to since 9/11. Some are ‘good news’, heartwarming stories, others are heartbreaking, as the children have battled drug use and depression, and other illnesses, as they tried to come to terms with their grief. Most have triumphed in their own way and are now ready to enter a new and more positive phase of their lives.
