The flight of the first man into space goes further into history, there are fewer witnesses of this most significant, joyful event in the history of our country after the Victory day. Yuri Gagarin's flight, preparation for it and the first post-flight days are increasingly overgrown with legends, although a lot of documentary evidence, including archival films, step by step recorded the events of April 1961, has been preserved. How did it really happen?
In the film, step by step re-training of the flight, the flight of Gagarin and the solemn meeting. The authors of the film managed to find those who took part in the preparation of the flight, and in the coverage of the celebration. Alexander Slavin carefully restores in his comments how and under what circumstances certain shots were shot with Yuri Gagarin. The footage found in the archives was never shown to the General public for censorship reasons.
The film tells that Sergei Korolev himself ordered to shoot Yuri Gagarin after landing as much as possible. And the shooting was not intended for the General public. According to them, scientists had to conclude whether a person can return from orbit in a normal, adequate state. After all, before the flight of Gagarin, serious scientists have suggested that the human psyche will not survive in space. In contrast to these secret filming solemn meeting Gagarin was filmed openly and widely - and it is on these frames that we can now judge the true scope of the celebration of the meeting.
